Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Med/Surg unit on a PRN night shift. You will join a 38-bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, providing compassionate care and assisting physicians and staff.

This role requires NC or compact LPN license, BLS within 30 days, ACLS/PALS within six months, and up to 1 year of experience. PRN nights, 12-hour shifts, holidays and weekends may be included.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact state LPN license required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assists Providers with preparation and information documentation for the patient's visit including vitals and history.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients.
• Assists Providers with procedures as directed by the Provider.
• Assists with collection of lab samples.
• Gives injections, administers meds, and provides wound care as ordered by Provider.
• Documents all care and education in medical record.

Join our team in a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). With a 1:6 nurse to patient ratio, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. What we're looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state LPN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
