Haywood Regional Medical Center - A Duke LifePoint Hospital in Clyde, NC is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Med/Surg on nights. You will work 3x12s (7p-7a) with rotating holidays and weekends, caring for patients in a 38-bed unit and collaborating with RNs and CNAs.

A $7,500 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment is offered for eligible candidates. Active NC or compact LPN license, BLS within 30 days, ACLS/PALS within 6 months, and 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact state LPN license required.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS certification required within six months of hire.
• One year of nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Providers with patient visits, including vitals and history collection.
• Prepare exam rooms and ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Assist with procedures as directed by the Provider.
• Collect lab samples and administer injections/medications as ordered.
• Document all care and education in the patient chart.

Join our team in a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). With a 1:6 nurse to patient ratio, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

How You'll Contribute

• Assists Providers with preparation and information documentation for the patient's visit including obtaining vitals, medical history and other pertinent information from the patient.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients.
• Assists Providers with procedures as directed by the Provider.
• Assists with collection of lab samples.
• Gives injections, administers meds, and provides wound care as ordered by Provider.
• Documents all care and education in medical record.

What we're looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state LPN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
