Job summary

North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Med/Surg Post Surgical unit. This full-time role offers nights and options for 3x12 shifts or a days shift with rotating weekends, on a 32-bed unit that handles general, orthopedic, and neurosurgical postoperative care.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 14 days of hire.

Our Post‑Surgical Medical‑Surgical Unit is a 32‑bed inpatient unit specializing in the care of patients recovering from general, orthopedic, and neurosurgical procedures. The unit also supports medical‑surgical overflow as needed. Nurses on this unit typically manage a 1:6 nurse‑to‑patient ratio, providing comprehensive postoperative monitoring, pain management, and coordinated interdisciplinary care.

How you'll contribute

• Will make an impact by utilizing your specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving as a patient-care innovator.
• Shapes exceptional patient journeys every day and leverage your skills and our cutting-edge technology to directly impact patient wellbeing.
• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies medical surgical needs.
• Performs post operative assessments.
• Performs wound care.
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Assists in multidisciplinary collaborations.
