Job summary

North Alabama Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician in the Operating Room. This full-time, days shift position is based in Florence, Alabama, with a 40-hour work week and responsibilities spanning prep, instrument handling, and patient care coordination.

Qualified candidates will have Surgical Technician Certification, BLS within 30 days of hire, and a High School Diploma. North Alabama Medical Center offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities within Lifepoint Health.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures proper working order of instruments and equipment.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to the physician during surgery.
• Continuously accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

How you'll contribute

A Surgical Technician who excels in this role:

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.

What we're looking for

Requires Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

• Licenses: Surgical Technician Certification current & in good standing REQUIRED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• High School Diploma REQUIRED.
