About the Unit

The Post‑Surgical Medical‑Surgical Unit is a 32‑bed inpatient unit specializing in the care of patients recovering from general, orthopedic, and neurosurgical procedures. The unit also supports medical‑surgical overflow as needed. Nurses typically manage a 1:6 nurse‑to‑patient ratio, providing comprehensive postoperative monitoring, pain management, and coordinated interdisciplinary care.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify medical surgical needs
• Perform post‑operative assessments
• Perform wound care
• Perform timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Assist in multidisciplinary collaborations

Qualifications

• Current Alabama or compact state RN license
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required; Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Basic Life Support (required)
• ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care (preferred)
• Experience preferred, but new graduates welcomed to apply
