Job summary

SoftPath Medical is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the 2nd shift (2pm-10pm) in Lebanon, OH. Part-time positions are encouraged; flexibility is required as schedules may change based on staffing and facility needs, with Sundays and Mondays off.

The LPN will provide nursing care under supervision, administer medications and therapies, document patient records, observe conditions, and support physicians. A solid knowledge of nursing procedures, HIPAA, and patient safety is essential.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Shift

2nd shift: 2pm-10pm, with days off on Sunday and Monday.Flexibility is required as schedules may change based on staffing and facility needs, including working hours.Part-time LPNs are encouraged to apply.

Compensation

Compensation is based on a maximum budgeted bill rate.Submissions exceeding this rate will not be considered.

Job Duties

The following duties are representative and may include some or all listed tasks, as well as other related responsibilities assigned.

• Provide nursing care within the scope of practice as defined by applicable regulations, under supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, or chiropractor, including:
  • Administer oxygen and sterile dressings
  • Insert catheters and reinsert gastrostomy tubes
  • Suction and irrigate wounds
  • Administer enemas and douches
  • Collect specimens
  • Perform dialysis treatments, operate hemodialysis equipment, and monitor patients during procedures
  • Assist physicians with physical exams, treatments, and laboratory tests
  • Provide emergency care such as first aid, CPR, and patient restraint
  • Administer controlled drugs (e.g., narcotics, minor tranquilizers) and non-controlled medications orally, rectally, topically, or by injection (intramuscular and subcutaneous only)
  • Provide medication instructions to patients
• Maintain medication accountability records, including charting patient records, preparing and counting medication, and managing medication stock and medical supplies.
• Observe, document, and report patient conditions such as medication reactions, treatment responses, behavior, and progress.Prepare and maintain related reports and records, including incident reports, patient records, medication reports, seclusion/restraint logs, patient kardex, and team plans.
• Provide general nursing care and programming assistance, including:
  • Taking vital signs
  • Assisting with personal grooming, hygiene, bathing, and daily living activities
  • Administering topical ointments and solutions, as well as eye, ear, and nose drops
  • Repositioning patients and responding to patient alarms
  • Scheduling medical appointments and escorting patients
  • Assisting with recreational activities and providing one-to-one or group activities according to treatment plans
• Provide guidance, orientation, and training to lower-level direct care staff such as hospital aides, orderlies, and psychiatric attendants in delivering unskilled nursing care (e.g., dressing, bathing, feeding).
• Participate in meetings including staff conferences, committees, interdisciplinary team meetings, in-service training programs, and nursing meetings as assigned.
• Order medications and medical supplies; maintain cleanliness of the nurses’ station and medication room/medication cart, including cleaning, sterilizing, restocking, and defrosting medication refrigerators.
• Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones and filing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of licensed practical nursing procedures, pharmacology, patient care, first aid, CPR, and general hospital practices and procedures.
• Familiarity with agency, institutional, hospital, or clinic policies and HIPAA regulations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience with inventory control and employee training and development.
• Skill in using medical equipment such as respirators, dialysis machines, sterilizers, oxygen equipment, and blood pressure cuffs.
• Proficiency with hypodermic needles and personal computer operation.
• Ability to understand practical nursing concepts, recognize unusual or threatening conditions, and take appropriate emergency actions.
• Capability to develop rapport with patients and residents, comprehend manuals and verbal instructions, demonstrate dexterity for injections and medical treatments, and possess the strength to move, reposition, or restrain patients.
