Job summary

SoftPath Medical is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide patient care under supervision in a multi-shift facility serving an all-male population. The role emphasizes nursing procedures, medication administration, and documentation, with walking and stair navigation required.

Shifts run Thursday to Saturday, 6:10 AM - 7:30 PM, with potential Sunday-Tuesday coverage. Compliance with facility rules and HIPAA, plus strong teamwork, are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of licensed practical nursing procedures, pharmacology, patient care, first aid, CPR, hospital practices and procedures, HIPAA regulations, human relations, inventory control, and employee training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care within the scope defined by state regulations, under supervision of registered nurses, licensed physicians, dentists, podiatrists, optometrists, or chiropractors. Tasks include administering oxygen, applying sterile dressings, inserting catheters, reinserting gastrostomy tubes, suctioning, irrigating wounds, administering enemas and douches, collecting specimens, performing dialysis treatments, operating hemodialysis equipment, and monitoring patients during procedures.
  • Assist physicians with physical examinations, treatments, and laboratory tests.
  • Respond to emergencies by providing first aid, performing CPR, and restraining patients when necessary.
  • Administer controlled medications such as narcotics and minor tranquilizers, as well as non-controlled medications in oral, rectal, topical, or injectable forms (intramuscular and subcutaneous injections only), and provide medication instructions to patients.
  • Maintain medication accountability records, including charting patient records, preparing and counting medications, and managing medication stock and medical supplies.
  • Observe, document, and report patient conditions such as medication reactions, treatment responses, behavior, and progress.
  • Prepare and maintain related reports and records, including unusual incident reports, patient records, medication reports, seclusion/restraint logs, patient kardex, and team plans.
  • Provide general nursing care and programming assistance, including taking vital signs, assisting with personal grooming, hygiene, bathing, and daily living activities.
  • Administer topical ointments and solutions, as well as eye, ear, and nose drops.
  • Reposition patients, respond to patient alarms, schedule medical appointments, escort patients, and assist with recreational activities.
  • Conduct one-to-one or group activities according to treatment plans.
  • Provide work direction, orientation, and training to lower-level direct care staff such as hospital aides, orderlies, and psychiatric attendants in delivering unskilled nursing care.
  • Attend and participate in meetings including staff conferences, committees, interdisciplinary team meetings, in-service training, and nursing meetings as assigned.
  • Order medications and medical supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of nurses’ station and medication areas, including cleaning, sterilizing, and restocking medication carts and refrigerators.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones and filing.

Shift Details

Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 6:10 AM - 7:30 PM

Flexibility is required as shifts and days may change according to facility needs.

Shifts on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday may also be necessary.

Work Environment

Facility serves an all-male population at Level 1 and 3.

The role involves significant walking and stair use.

Cell phones are prohibited until all required paperwork is completed and approved.

Metal detector screening must be passed.

No cans, tobacco products, vapes, or similar items are allowed.

Food must be stored in clear, transparent containers.

Only up to one gallon of water may be brought into the facility.

Compensation

Compensation is subject to a budgeted maximum bill rate.
