Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its Neurosurgery Clinic. This full-time position supports an RN-led team, with a Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm schedule and opportunities to contribute to patient assessments and care planning.

The LPN will perform plan-of-care interventions, wound care, medication administration, and documentation while advocating for patients and coordinating daily activities under supervision.

Formación

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Current Kentucky LPN license in good standing.
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact).
• BCLS within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes and insurance benefits.

Responsabilidades

• Under RN direction, helps assess patients by collecting data for RN analysis.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Assists RN with developing the plan of care.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Monitors and communicates patient status and reactions to interventions.
• Advocates for the patient’s physical and emotional well‑being.
• Schedules procedures and testing as ordered.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested.

How you'll contribute

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules, appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

Non-Essential Functions

• Attend clinic meetings.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiate appropriate action.
• Completes safety instructional programs.
• Assist other team members when time permits.

What we are looking for:

Education:

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program

License:

• Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

Certifications:

• BCLS within 30 days of hire
• Minimum Work Experience: Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds
