Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Bronx location to administer chemotherapy and supportive care, monitor patients, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a patient-centered cancer care setting.

Ideal candidates will hold a NY RN license, BLS, and demonstrate strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills. EMR experience is preferred. We offer comprehensive benefits and a schedule of 4/10 hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred).
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician.
• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol.
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
• Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
• Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services

Location: Bronx, NY

Hours/Days: 4/10 hour shifts, Mon-Tue, Thu-Fri 8a-6p

In This Role, You Will:

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician

We Require:

• Valid New York State RN License

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
