Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks seller-doer engineers: licensed Professional Engineers who are comfortable in a contractor's office pitching a testing program, as well as reviewing a compaction report or sealing a geotechnical letter. You carry a business development target and a technical workload, and your compensation follows the revenue you bring in.

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a book of clients for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services;

Qualifications

• Active PE license (civil, geotechnical, or structural).
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
• Proven ability to bring in work or a credible plan to do so.
• Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and declining unfavorable contracts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on projects you win: review field and laboratory data, resolve failing tests, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on your projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
