Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks seller-doer engineers who are licensed Professional Engineers. You will pitch testing programs, review compaction and geotechnical data, seal reports, and manage both business development and a technical workload.

You will develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services. Travel to client offices and jobsites is required.

Qualifications

Active PE license in the state of posting or by comity within 90 days.
6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection.
A track record of bringing in work or a credible plan to do so in this market.
Comfort pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a book of clients for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms.
Serve as engineer of record on projects you win: review field and laboratory data, seal reports and letters.
Direct technicians and inspectors on projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
