Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a licensed Professional Engineer who is equally comfortable in a contractor's office selling a testing program as reviewing compaction reports and sealing geotechnical letters.

The seller-doer will build and maintain a client book across general contractors, owners, and design firms for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services, and will scope/price/write proposals while converting opportunities to signed work.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in the posting state or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
• Record of bringing in work, or a credible plan for how you would in this market.
• Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on the projects you win: review field and laboratory data, seal reports and letters.
