Job summary

VisionWorks in New York is seeking an optical sales associate to assist customers with frame and lens selections and to dispense eyewear accurately. You will interpret prescriptions, explain benefits for third-party insurance, and use the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and provide lens recommendations.

The role requires licensure as an optician per state guidelines and a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Ability to interpret prescriptions and explain optical products.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Third Party insurance benefits and charges.
• Familiarity with the SERVE sales process.
• Ability to read and interpret prescriptions and coordinate with Lab/Optometrist.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in frame and lens selection with social distancing.
• Provide accurate information on frames, lens options and services.
• Explain insurance benefits and any charges not covered by insurance.
• Utilize the SERVE process to identify customer needs and recommend lenses.
• Interpret prescriptions and coordinate with Lab/Optometrist for accuracy.
• Measure, fit and dispense frames and accessories; verify orders.
• Maintain a clean dispensing area.
• Maintain pricing accuracy and comply with HIPAA.
