Job summary

Visionworks in New York is seeking an Optical Associate to assist customers with frame and lens selection, interpret prescriptions, and dispense eyewear with precision and care.

You will apply the SERVE sales process, maintain HIPAA privacy and licensing requirements, coordinate with the lab and optometrist, ensure accurate pricing, and keep the dispensing area clean and organized to deliver excellent service.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing
• Knowledge of optical products, services and prescription interpretation
• Ability to explain products and fit/dispense eyewear

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in frame and lens selection
• Ensure compliance with social distancing and hygiene protocols
• Provide accurate product information on frames, lenses and services
• Inform customers about insurance coverage and any charges not covered
• Use SERVE sales process to identify needs and recommend lenses
• Analyze prescriptions and coordinate with Lab and Optometrist for accuracy
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories with accurate measurements
• Maintain a clean, organized dispensing area and ensure correct customer pricing
• Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines
• Provide guidance to Apprentice Opticians where applicable
• Adhere to HIPAA and privacy policies
• Participate in training and maintain equipment cleanliness
• Handle additional responsibilities as business needs dictate
