The Licensed Optician / Assistant Manager supports the Atelier Manager in delivering an exceptional luxury retail experience while driving sales, leading the team, and ensuring operational excellence. This role combines advanced optical expertise with client-focused styling, team leadership, and atelier operations to uphold the highest standards of service and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a personalized, luxury client experience through expert frame styling and lens recommendations tailored to each client's prescription, lifestyle, and aesthetic.
- Build and maintain lasting client relationships while developing a loyal client book through exceptional service and follow-up.
- Educate clients on the brand's collections, craftsmanship, lens technology, and product offerings.
- Lead by example to achieve and exceed individual and atelier sales goals through consultative selling.
- Support the Atelier Manager in coaching, mentoring, and motivating the team to deliver outstanding client experiences and strong sales performance.
- Perform accurate optical measurements, including pupillary distance (PD), eye size, bridge size, temple length, and frame fittings using appropriate tools.
- Interpret prescriptions and recommend appropriate lens designs and treatments based on client needs.
- Adjust, fit, troubleshoot, and dispense eyewear to ensure comfort, function, and quality.
- Prepare and manage laboratory work orders, verify prescription accuracy, and ensure completed eyewear meets company quality standards.
- Assist with inventory management, merchandising, visual presentation, daily operations, and maintaining atelier standards.
- Help train and develop team members on sales techniques, product knowledge, optical best practices, and customer service.
Qualifications
- ABO certification required. California Board of Ophthalmic Dispensing licensure is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in luxury eyewear, optical retail, or high-end luxury retail sales.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic lenses, prescriptions, frame fitting, adjustments, and optical dispensing.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals while delivering exceptional client service.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
