Job summary

Apple Rehab Shelton Lakes in Connecticut is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. The OTA will work under the Rehabilitation Director and OT to provide quality resident care and help residents achieve maximum functional ability in a skilled nursing setting.

Candidates must graduate from an AOTA-accredited OTA program and be eligible for licensure in the state; prior long-term care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an AOTA-accredited OTA program and eligible for licensure in their state of practice.
• Experience in long-term care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complies with ethical, regulatory, procedural and professional standards and practice guidelines as defined by state of licensure.
• Assists the OT in providing occupational therapy treatments to residents as determined by the Plan of Care as directed by the OT
• Manages caseload with supervisor by scheduling treatment individually or in groups while maintaining efficiency expectations.
• Instructs resident, family, and caregivers in OT procedures to be continued upon discharge.
• Adheres to PPS guidelines, ensures all OT documentation/treatment conforms to documentation/billing policies and procedures.
• Working with OT, provides oversight and direction to techs and assists in the supervision and education of affiliating students.
• Assists in the assurance that the physical surroundings and equipment are sanitary, orderly and free from conditions that may cause safety hazards.
• Maintains own professional competence as well as learning new creative trends in OT treatment through participation in continuing education, seminars and training programs.
• Attends all mandatory in-services.
