Job summary

Hancock Whitney in Lake Charles, LA is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to originate portfolio loans including conventional, FHA, VA, and RD while ensuring compliance with investor guidelines and state/federal laws. You will promote bank products to clients, develop referral networks, manage a clean loan pipeline, and coordinate with processors, underwriters and closers to move loans to closing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 2 years of sales experience required.
• 2+ years of Mortgage origination experience preferred.
• NMLS registration under the SAFE Act required upon employment.
• Knowledge of mortgage laws, procedures, rules and regs at federal, state, local and bank-wide levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Outlook.
• Excellent communication, analytical, customer service and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
• Strong presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides expert mortgage advice to potential borrowers.
• Stays current with underwriting policy, investor guidelines, and applicable laws.
• Develops and maintains referral networks with Realtors, builders, and community sources.
• Manages a clean pipeline of loans coordinating with processors, underwriters and closers.
• Delivers all compliance documents and disclosures in a timely manner.
• Takes complete applications and collects required documentation for verification.
• Coordinates closing with borrowers, agents, and others.
