Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a clinic setting. You will room patients, collect vital signs, review medications, perform health maintenance tasks, and assist providers with procedures.

You will also handle basic lab duties, administer vaccines, manage referrals, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR. Competency, teamwork, and safety are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of military clinical training per DD214 in lieu of formal MA program.
• WI/IL divisions require either MA program completion or 2 years full-time MA experience in last 5 years.
• Certification options listed (BLS) depending on division.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and policies, maintains competency.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, history, meds reconciliation, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures and lab duties including venipuncture and POCT.
• Performs CLIA-waived tests and handles lab orders, labeling, and result tracking.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights and policies.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling, referrals and messaging.
• Cross-trained for duties relevant to specialty or clinic.
• Maintains clean, stocked work areas and equipment.
• Ensures age-appropriate patient care and development considerations.
