Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission in Houston, TX is seeking an Inspector V. This front-line role conducts on-site licensure inspections and investigations in long-term care facilities to ensure compliance with state and federal health and safety regulations.

Travel up to 80% is required, with a flexible schedule and possible telework options as appropriate. The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree and experience in quality assurance, investigations, and regulatory oversight.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Experience in conducting investigations related to quality outcomes preferred.
• Experience in quality assurance/compliance and oversight/auditing preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a program manager, Inspector V conducts on-site licensure inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and annual comprehensive surveys in facilities to determine compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations.
• Communicates clearly and accurately with others to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, address issues, or resolve issues or complaints regarding services provided in Texas long-term care facilities.
• Conducts exit conferences with facility staff regarding findings and can assist in developing a plan to correct deficiencies.
• Completes inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies, recommended remedies, and narratives to support regulatory findings.
• Visits long-term care facilities to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
