Job summary

Palmdale Regional Medical Center, part of Universal Health Services, Inc., seeks an Licensed Engineer to perform preventive maintenance on hospital facilities, equipment and systems. The role requires HVAC/engineering know-how, building automation understanding and strong reading of technical manuals.

Ideal candidates hold an AA in Engineering or related field, a relevant license, EPA certification, and a CA driver's license.

Qualifications

• Three years of plant operator experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• HS graduate or equivalent required.
• AA degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment, controls and building automation.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Light locksmith skills and basic IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment and facilities.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Demonstrate knowledge of building automation systems.
• Maintain safety and compliance with EPA and licensing requirements.
• Possess valid California driver’s license and related duties.

Position Description:

Under general supervision, the Licensed Engineer reports to the Director of Plant Operation and preforms a variety of routine or skilled preventive maintenance duties in the repair, alteration, & modification of buildings, equipment, & facilities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities Requirements:

• Three (3) years of experience as a plant operator. Acute hospital setting is preferred.
• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Associates of Arts degree in Engineering or technical disciplines in Plant Operations, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or equivalent.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of equipment, controls, and building automation maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematic drawings and technical manuals.
• Light locksmith skills.
• Written and verbal communications, interpersonal skills.
• Basic organizational and computer skills.
• Steam Engineer License, Electrician License, Journeyman or certification in a specific trade (Boiler, HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrician, Plumbing) OR 10 years minimum experience.
• Environment Protection Agency required.
• Valid CA Driver’s License required.
