Job summary

City of Davenport Library seeks an experienced Youth Services leader to plan, organize, and manage daily operations for children, teens, and families. You will train and supervise staff, interpret policy, and actively participate in leadership initiatives.

The role requires a Master’s in Library Science and at least 3 years’ professional library experience with youth, including supervisory responsibilities; Iowa library certification is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional library experience with at least two (2) years serving youth and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Certification with the State Library of Iowa required upon employment and retained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, manage, and evaluate day-to-day operation of the Youth Services department.
• Create, schedule, implement, and evaluate library programming for children, teens, and families.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate assigned employees.
• Interpret and enforce policy; problem-solve and exercise good judgement.
• Maintain knowledge of current practices in youth services; select and evaluate youth materials.
