Job summary

The City of Davenport Library is seeking a dedicated Youth Services Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Youth Services department, design and assess programs for children, teens, and families, and supervise staff.

The role participates in community outreach, collaborates with the Davenport Community School District, and helps advance the library’s mission with a welcoming environment and proactive service.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science and at least three years of professional library experience with youth focus and supervisory experience.
• Certification with the State Library of Iowa required upon employment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups.
• Ability to train, coach, and evaluate employees.
• Knowledge of youth development and library programs, services, and trends.
• Knowledge of reference services, readers’ advisory, and materials selection.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, manage, and evaluate day-to-day operation of the Youth Services department.
• Create, schedule, implement, and evaluate library programming for children, teens, and families.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate assigned employees; interpret policies and enforce them.
• Maintain knowledge of current practices in youth services; develop and maintain the youth collection.
• Actively participate in community outreach; serve on the Library leadership team; collaborate with administration.
