Job summary

La Porte County Public Library seeks a Tutoring Assistant to provide academic support to students and adults. You will conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring in reading, math, writing, or English Language Learning (ELL), using the library's resources and digital tools.

Reporting to the School Liaison Librarian, you will track attendance, monitor progress, and adapt tutoring strategies to student goals while upholding library policies and welcoming community members of all ages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
• Ability to pass LPCPL background check.
• Comfort working with community members of all ages.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Adaptable and forward-thinking.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring or homework help in reading, math, writing, or ELL.
• Help students locate information and navigate digital content and online tools.
• Align tutoring with student goals with library coordinator.
• Record attendance, monitor progress, and report data.
• Communicate processes clearly and provide feedback.
• Follow policies and procedures.
