Job summary

Denmark Technical College is seeking a Library Assistant to perform general operational duties in the management of the library, supervision of Work Study students, and provide circulation and reference services to the campus community.

Under supervision, you will assist patrons with using library services, handle daily opening/closing duties, Interlibrary Loan tasks via PASCAL Delivers, assist with collection development, process mail, and support staff with library equipment and technology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree may substitute for work experience.
• Preferred: Associate's degree in a related field plus 2 years library work experience or high school diploma plus 4 years library work experience.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Knowledge of electronic databases, word processing software, and Internet search methods.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Maintain high accuracy and discretion in handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide circulation and reference services to patrons (computers, catalog, electronic resources).
• Supervise Work Study students and support staff.
• Perform daily opening/closing duties and ensure safety of library users and property.
• Handle Interlibrary Loan tasks via PASCAL Delivers (sending/receiving books).
• Assist with collection development, ordering materials, shelf reading, and organization.
• Process daily mail, magazines/journals/newspapers; maintain current resources.
• Assist users with library equipment and technology; participate in staff activities and committees.
