Job summary

Western New Mexico University is seeking an on-campus Library Technical Services Assistant to support the department's workflows from receipt to ready-for-use materials. The role includes copy cataloging, processing new materials, and assisting with reference shifts for students, staff, and the public.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and may benefit from Spanish language skills. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to work evenings/weekends, and familiarity with MS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• Experience with Integrated Library System(s), especially WMS, knowledge of bibliographic records and copy cataloging in a library setting is a plus.
• Knowledge of RDA and MARC 21 standards is desired.
• Evening and weekend hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform copy cataloging of library materials according to standards (RDA, MARC 21) and local conventions.
• Process new materials for public use.
• Assist with collection maintenance, including deletions, inventories.
• Provide high-quality reference service to students, staff and public patrons, including digital and physical resources.
• Monitor student assistants in the Technical Services Department; maintain department statistics and documentation.
• Perform repairs on damaged library materials.
• Other duties as assigned.
