Job summary

The City of Riverside is seeking a Library Technician to support circulation, reference, cataloging, and acquisitions in the Neighborhood Services Division of the Library Department. This position may also be filled as Library Technician in practice, with duties spanning public service, technology support, and clerical tasks.

The role involves assisting customers, supporting the library's integrated systems, and contributing to program coordination and reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Library Technology, Computer Science, Social Sciences, Humanities, or Liberal Arts.
• One year of increasingly responsible library clerical or technology assistant experience.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and perform typical circulation and reference duties at a public service desk.
• Assist with the implementation, maintenance, and management of the library's integrated library system and auxiliary technology tools.
• Help customers locate materials and use library equipment and computers; answer questions and issue library cards.
• Schedule and coordinate library staffing and events; monitor programs and assist with related clerical tasks.
• Maintain files and records; prepare reports on circulation, book stock, and fines; tally cash receipts as needed.
