The City of Riverside is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support the Neighborhood Services Division of the Library Department. This role involves clerical library duties and public service, with eligibility to cover current and upcoming vacancies for up to six months.
Responsibilities include circulation desk service, processing orders, assisting patrons with materials and equipment, and maintaining records. Part-time availability including evenings and weekends is required.
The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the position of Library Assistant (Part-Time) to fill one (1) vacancy in the Neighborhood Services Division of the Library Department. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months. *Library Assistant (Part-Time) is a working title for the Library Assistant.
The Library Assistant performs a wide variety of routine to moderately difficult clerical library duties; to interact with the public in providing library services.
The Mission of the Riverside Public Library is to be the cultural and learning center for the community, encouraging the joy and wonder of reading, the wisdom of diverse ideas, and the power of lifelong learning.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. The completion of supplemental college or business related course work is highly desirable.
Six (6) months experience in library or customer service.
Must be able to work part-time or irregular schedules including evenings and weekends.

The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Those who successfully complete the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list for this classification.
