Job summary

The New School Libraries are seeking 60+ Student Worker Library Assistants to support in-person library services at the University Center Library in New York City. Duties include circulation desk support, shelving, catalog assistance, and printing help.

Excellent customer service and ability to communicate clearly with library users.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Adaptable and consistent when notifying supervisor of schedule changes.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to interact with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work without close supervision.

Responsibilities

Report for shift on time and review priority tasks with supervisor.
Monitor patrons entering and exiting the library and assist at the circulation desk.
Check-in and check-out materials using library software.
Maintain stacks, shelving, and in-housing of books.
Assist patrons with library printing and locating items in stacks/catalog.
Support with opening/closing procedures as needed.
