Job summary

The New York Public Library is seeking a Library Page for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library Children’s Center. This part-time role is designed for students and provides 18 hours per week including evenings and Saturdays.

Responsibilities include shelving, assisting patrons, and supporting events while developing professional communication skills. Ideal candidates are enrolled students with strong reliability, customer service, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a student in a degree program/accredited school.
• Proper employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law.
• Ability to sort items alphanumerically and follow detailed instructions.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Reliability and professional conduct.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office & Google Apps).

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to library patrons.
• Shelve and arrange books, CDs, DVDs, and other materials in alphanumeric order.
• Assist patrons with locating materials and basic computer usage.
• Help prepare materials for patrons and assist with events.
• Maintain clean, organized public spaces and shelves.
• Support staff with various duties as needed.
