Job summary

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks a Library Assistant to support daily library operations, assist patrons with public access technology, and help patrons locate resources both on-site and online.

Responsibilities include supervising student workers, coordinating with IT for technical issues, and opening/closing duties. Strong customer service and English communication are required; evening/morning shifts may be needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to use computers and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to learn new processes in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to switch shifts to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the daily operation of the Library, including check-ins, checkouts, and customer relations.
• Provide customer assistance with public access technology and common software apps.
• Support patron use of online resources such as the library website, LibGuides, and databases.
• Communicate with patrons via email, phone, and chat; assist in person and online with questions.
• Open/close the library and travel to BRCC sites to provide resources and services.
