Job summary

Bergen Community College is seeking a Senior Library Assistant to support Library Access Services, Media Services and Interlibrary Loan. Responsibilities include check-out/check-in, shelving, catalog assistance and basic troubleshooting for computer and multimedia equipment.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, teamwork and adherence to library policies, with opportunities to contribute to exhibits and collection maintenance in a dynamic campus environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent is required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Two years of related library experience.
• Experience with an integrated library management system, OCLC WMS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance for Service Desk and Media Services; duties include check-out/check-in of library materials/equipment and retrieving and shelving materials.
• Responsible for all Interlibrary Loan functions; handling incoming and lending requests, including processing and tracking.
• Explains library policies, procedures, and regulations to patrons.
• Advises and assists faculty and students in the use of computer and multimedia equipment for academic use.
• Assists patrons in using online catalog and locating reserve materials.
• Assists with collection maintenance: shelving, shelf reading, inventory.
• Plans and sets up exhibits.
• Monitors public areas for appearance and compliance with Library policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
