Job summary

Bergen County Library System's Louis Bay 2nd Public Library in Hawthorne, NJ seeks a Library Assistant for Children's Services. You will assist with planning and delivering programs for children, tweens, and teens, prepare materials, and support outreach to schools and community partners.

Responsibilities include helping at the children's circulation desk, handling reader's advisory questions, shelving, and room setup.

Qualifications

• Must have experience with groups of children.
• Friendly, personable and flexible in availability.
• Computer knowledge is a must.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and delivering a variety of programs for children, tweens, and teens.
• Prepare program materials, supplies, displays, and activity spaces; assist with setup and cleanup.
• Promote library programs and services through displays, flyers, social media and outreach.
• Run reports and use them to evaluate, inventory, and weed the collection.
• Assist with outreach activities and partnerships with schools and youth-serving agencies.
• Working at the children's circulation desk and assisting with reader’s advisory questions.
• Shelf materials, shelving and room setup as required.
