Job summary

Escambia County is seeking a professional Librarian for supervisory library work across multiple functions, including cataloging, reference services, and program coordination. Qualified candidates hold a Master’s degree in Library Science and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an American Library Association accredited college with a Master's degree in Library Science.
• Possession of a driver's license for equipment operated and required licenses.
• Experience supervising library staff or operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers and researches questions asked by patrons in person or by phone.
• Teaches patrons how to use the library catalog and other resources.
• Conducts story hours for children.
• Reviews and selects materials for the collection.
• Writes short public announcements for local media.
• Catalogs books and prepares bibliographies.
• Plans and reviews work of subordinate staff.
• Trains staff in library procedures.
• Maintain routine records and prepare reports.
