Job summary

You will perform lead worker tasks, reader guidance, and circulation duties, helping patrons locate information and materials under supervision. Knowledge of library procedures and databases is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
• Evening and weekend work hours may be required.
• Successful completion of a criminal history background investigation is required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Functions as lead worker on assigned tasks.
• Performs reader guidance and ready reference work within established guidelines.
• Refers patrons requiring professional assistance to a Librarian or department manager.
• Performs circulation functions such as checking in/out materials and issuing library cards.
• Organizes, indexes and maintains records, databases and files; maintains inventories.
• Collects statistics and generates reports such as annual statistics of collection holdings.
• Initiates correspondence and follow-up on various subject matters.
• Directs activities of lower level employees in stacks maintenance and interlibrary loans.
• Reviews library materials and recommends purchases to a professional Librarian.
• Explains Library District procedures and policies.
