Qualifications

Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program.

Campus Location: Primary work location can be any MCTC campus. Position will be required to travel between campuses as needed.

Annual Salary: $55,392

Contract Term Length: 12 Months

Standard Hours: Monday through Friday 37.5 hours weekly

Maysville Community & Technical College is seeking an innovative and collaborative Director of Library Services to provide leadership for library operations, services, collections, and resources across the college.

This is an opportunity for an experienced library professional to make a meaningful impact on students, faculty, and communities throughout MCTC. The Director will lead library services across multiple locations while supporting information literacy, collection development, technology, budgeting, and strategic initiatives that strengthen student learning and success.

Job Summary

This Faculty position coordinates and organizes operations of a library unit and maintains responsibility and accountability for the unit’s services. Also, manages digital library collections and provides leadership in ensuring information is managed in accordance with the established policies.

On-campus position requiring in-person presence. This is not a remote position. This position is an exempt position with standard Monday through Friday daytime operating hours to meet the needs of our employees, students, and community members.

Job Duties

Responsible for the library information literacy instruction program at all locations and online through the embedded librarian program through collaboration with college faculty, including working with dual credit instructors and the prison education program.
Strategic Planning, Development, Implementation, and providing Leadership for the unit
Responsible for all financial duties of each campus library requesting funds through budget process, capital and current expense allocations, and any Perkins grant funding for the library.
Supervise all librarian faculty and staff employees and provide necessary training.
Library webpages on college website.
Collecting, evaluating and reporting all library service statistics.
Responsible for the library collection development program to support the curriculum.
Responsible for cataloging library materials for each campus.
Responsible for the interlibrary loan program.
Manage student and employee college identification card system
Participates in professional development activities to improve teaching skills and technical expertise.
Additional duties will include committee work, and internal and external service.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in library science or library and information science from an ALA-accredited program.
PROGRAM MUST BE ALA-ACCREDITED. Applicants may verify accredited programs through the official ALA-Accredited Programs Directory. The ALA directory lists currently accredited library and information studies programs.
Three to five years of experience in an academic library, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.
