Job summary

Bluegrass Community & Technical College is seeking a Director of Library Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for library services, ensuring student-centered support for teaching, learning, and research. The Director supervises personnel, manages resources and budgets, advances information literacy initiatives, and maintains active presence as a practicing librarian.

Qualifications

• MLIS or Library Science from an ALA-accredited program with at least three years of library experience and two years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of library systems, including circulation, cataloging, and bibliographic description.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and drive innovation in library services.
• Supervise all library staff and oversee staffing plans and training.
• Act as primary liaison between the library and college leadership.
• Ensure information literacy instruction for students, faculty, and staff.
• Oversee acquisition, cataloging, processing, and circulation of library resources.
• Develop and manage the library budget and collections development.
• Provide instruction and support for library technologies and digital resources.
• Participate in professional organizations and institutional committees.
