Job summary

The King William County Library System is seeking a Library Associate 2 to perform moderately complex paraprofessional duties mainly at the circulation desk and to provide customer service to patrons. This entry-level role supports several library sections under management direction.

Responsibilities include registering patrons, handling checkouts, guiding patrons, and processing materials, with a schedule that may include days, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• English/Spanish speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patrons, issue library cards, check out and process materials.
• Assist patrons at the circulation desk and reference desk as needed.
• Help patrons locate materials and explain procedures (checkout, internet use, copying).
• Check in and process library materials as necessary.
• Accept fines, fees, or other payments from patrons.
• Provide information on programs, events and room reservations.
• Mails library materials for homebound patrons when required.
• Shelve library materials and maintain orderly areas.
• Address patron conduct or safety issues with management.
• Follow privacy guidelines and custodianship of patron records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
