Job summary

Pasadena Public Library is seeking a customer-focused library assistant to work across service desks and shelving areas in Pasadena, TX. You will handle circulation tasks, assist patrons with catalogs and databases, and help promote library materials.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and a Texas driver’s license; associate degree is a plus. Bilingual English/Spanish skills and some experience with children are beneficial.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required and a valid Texas Driver's License.
• Preferred: an associate degree or some college education.
• Some library or similar setting experience desirable.
• Experience working with children a plus.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish and Red Cross first aid training a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist at customer service desks, answering questions in person, online and by phone.
• Process library card applications and update customer information.
• Shelve books and process holds; manage fines and refunds.
• Assist users with online catalogs, databases and computers; create displays and bookmarks to promote collections.
• Provide reader's advisory and assist with collection maintenance.
• Support programming and outreach; maintain public service areas and library equipment.
