Job summary

Library Systems & Services, LLC. is seeking an entry-level Library Associate 2 in La Quinta, CA, to support the circulation desk and patron services. The role emphasizes customer service, basic library systems knowledge, and assisting patrons with materials and resources.

The position involves a 20-hour workweek with weekend work and opportunities to grow within the library services family. Prior library exposure is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Two years library experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of library systems and databases preferred.
• Ability to work a regular schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• English/Spanish speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes and registers patrons, issues library cards, checks out materials.
• Manages patron accounts and processes fines, fees, or payments.
• Assists patrons with locating materials or using computers.
• Explains library procedures (checkout, internet access, copies).
• Checks in and processes library materials as needed.
• Provides information on programs and events.
• Mails library materials for homebound patrons.
• Shelves materials and maintains shelves.
