Job summary

Gateway Seminary is seeking a Reference Assistant to serve as the face of the library, assisting patrons with finding resources and using library services. Responsibilities include desk staffing, promoting materials, and basic instruction in research tools.

The role also covers inter-campus loan processing, circulation duties, and general cataloging assistance. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, with a theological background preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalency; theological degree preferred.
• Familiar with basic purposes of a library; prior library and/or customer service experience preferred.
• English required; Korean helpful.

Responsibilities

• Staff the library service desk as needed.
• Promote the use of library materials.
• Provide basic instruction in theological research tools and resources, locally and online.
• Solicit student and faculty perceptions and needs.
• Maintain positive staff and customer relations.
• Open/close the library as assigned.
• Process inter-campus loan requests from Gateway Seminary libraries.
• Provide basic servicing of library equipment and report problems.
