Job summary

Springfield Technical Community College is seeking a Part‑Time Reference & Instruction Librarian to provide excellent public service at the Reference Desk, develop knowledge of new technologies, and maintain accurate statistics on reference activities. You will become familiar with the library's print and digital collections and teach bibliographic instruction classes.

Qualifications

• MLS/Masters in Library Science or closely related field.
• Demonstrated research proficiency and understanding of research methodologies.
• Ability to incorporate emerging technologies into the research process.
• Familiarity with MLA, APA and AMA citation styles.
• Strong team communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent public service at the Reference Desk.
• Develop knowledge of new technologies and reference techniques.
• Maintain and report accurate statistics on reference services.
• Become familiar with the library's print and digital collections.
• Teach bibliographic instruction classes including research skills.
• Collaborate with the Instructional Services Librarian and faculty members.
• Support a strong service orientation throughout the library.
• Other duties as assigned.
