Job summary

Akron-Summit County Public Library is hiring a Public Services Assistant II (Floater) at the Main Library in Akron, OH. This full-time role covers 37.5 hours per week, including evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays, and supports multiple locations as needed.

You will greet customers, assist with finding materials, answer reference questions, and help patrons use library technology and databases at the public service desk, while upholding library policies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of library materials, programs and services as they relate to customers.
• Ability to use computer and library software/systems for reference and circulation tasks.
• Understanding of intellectual freedom principles in a public library context.
• Customer service skills and ability to assist diverse patrons.

Responsibilities

• Spend at least 75% of time at the public service desk helping customers.
• Greet customers and assist with selecting library materials.
• Answer reference questions and help with library databases and technology.
• Process circulation, shelving, and deliveries; maintain order and policies.
