Job summary

The Enoch Pratt Free Library is seeking a Security Officer to enforce laws and maintain order across branches and grounds. The officer will patrol facilities, monitor CCTV, respond to alarms, and write detailed reports.

This on-site, full-time role requires at least 3 years of security experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work day, evening, and weekend shifts, with mandatory background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• 3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Experience writing incident reports.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Experience with MS Word and MS Excel.
• Requires commission as a Special Police Officer by the State of Maryland within 1 year from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect library buildings and facilities per schedules.
• Patrol library buildings and grounds for safety and security hazards.
• Make final evening check for security and closing of buildings.
• Enforce library rules and observe movement of people entering and leaving the building.
• Monitor CCTV cameras.
• Respond to alarms and calls for assistance; investigate breaches.
• Write detailed reports as necessary (Daily log, Monthly Safety, etc.).
