Job summary

Addison Public Library is seeking a customer-focused team member who loves helping patrons. You will check out materials, issue library cards, handle fines, answer phones, and assist at self-checkout stations while protecting privacy and confidentiality.

This role supports a diverse community and requires flexible evenings and weekends. Ideal candidates are comfortable with data entry, using office equipment, and communicating clearly with patrons in person and by phone.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• One year of experience working with the public is required.
• The ability to use computer, telephone and other office equipment.
• Preference will be given to bilingual English and proficient in Polish, Spanish or other languages spoken by patrons.

Responsibilities

• Greet patrons and deliver GREAT service following Patron Experience Guidelines.
• Check out/check in materials, issue library cards, and collect fines/fees.
• Answer phones, provide information, and route calls appropriately.
• Enter data for a variety of transactions accurately.
• Assist patrons at self-checkout stations and at multiple service points.
• Monitor and tidy public areas and report maintenance issues.
