Job summary

Floydlibrary seeks a Building Services Team Member to maintain and clean library facilities, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for patrons. The role includes basic repairs, equipment assembly, and light grounds work, with evening and weekend availability.

Requires a GED/HS diploma and a valid driver’s license; successful drug screening/background check is required. This non-exempt, hourly position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations in the Facilities department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least six months of related experience.
• Must successfully pass a drug screening/background check.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Systematically clean assigned areas of the library by mopping, vacuuming, dusting, etc.
• Maintain housekeeping and maintenance supplies.
• Assist in exterior grounds keeping and light snow removal when needed.
• Repair minor plumbing, carpentry and light painting as requested.
• Assemble furniture and install equipment.
• Be attentive to safety hazards and security issues and report them.
• Evaluate worn or damaged equipment for replacement or repair.
• Make the library more accessible by adjusting signs, furniture, and shelves.
