Job summary

Cumberland Public Library is seeking a part-time custodian/maintenance worker to join the facilities team. The role involves cleaning, basic upkeep, and building security tasks, with evening and occasional Sunday hours required. Lifting up to 50 pounds and ladder use are expected.

Responsibilities include restrooms and public areas cleaning, event setup, snow removal, and minor carpentry or repair work as needed. The position reports to the FACILITIES MANAGER and is 18 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Climb ladders
• Evenings and occasional Sundays availability
• Some Saturday hours may be required

Responsibilities

• Cleans staff and public restrooms and replenishes supplies
• Cleans and maintains public areas on the first and second floors and staff offices
• Removes trash and recycling from public and staff areas
• Assists with setup and breakdown for library events
• Performs building closing duties: setting alarms, locking doors, and security checks
• Removes snow and salts pavement during winter months (snow blower used)
• Assists with monitoring the building for facility issues
• Performs carpentry, painting, and repair tasks as needed
