Job summary

The Bartlett Public Library District is seeking a part-time Facility Assistant to help keep the library clean, safe, and welcoming. Responsibilities include custodial tasks, basic maintenance, and setting up rooms for programs to support staff and patrons.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, custodial experience is preferred, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb a ladder, and work outside in varying conditions. Evening and weekend hours are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least one year of custodial experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques.
• Ability to exercise safety precautions in the use of library equipment and materials.
• Ability to work outside in variable temperatures and conditions.
• Ability to bend, sit, reach, move about, hear and speak; noise level may be high when operating power equipment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and move heavier materials using appropriate equipment.
• Ability to safely climb a twelve-foot ladder.
• Ability to stand, be on feet, and move around for a full shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial, janitorial, and other housekeeping duties, including but not limited to: cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping, removing trash, replenishing supplies, and dusting.
• Maintain safe, clean, sanitary conditions throughout the building and grounds.
• Perform a variety of maintenance work for the library.
• Assist with care of trees, lawns, and shrubbery.
• Assist with snow and ice removal.
• Assist with preparations for special functions by arranging furniture, mounting decorations, and setting up equipment.
• Set up meeting rooms for Library programs.
• Report unusual conditions to management.
• All other duties as assigned.
