Job summary

The Glenview Public Library is seeking a Facilities Custodian to maintain the library building, parking areas, and grounds on a part-time basis. Schedule includes weekdays and weekend rotations, with additional Monday/Friday evening shifts as needed.

Responsibilities include cleaning, minor repairs, room setups, and overseeing building systems under the Facilities Manager. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, IMRF, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
• Experience with HVAC, electrical and plumbing maintenance is preferred.
• Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle and proof of current automobile insurance required.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and to be “on call” for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Monitors HVAC and building systems and notifies supervisor of issues.
• Performs cleaning and janitorial duties to maintain Library premises.
• Performs minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
• Prepares/sets up meeting rooms for programs and library events.
• Opens/closes building; handles grounds and snow/ice removal.
