Job summary

Grayslake Area Public Library is seeking a reliable Custodial/Maintenance worker to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patrons and staff. This part-time position involves routine building upkeep, event setups, and minor facility repairs.

The role requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled. Training provided, with emphasis on safety and professional collaboration with library staff and patrons.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in custodial work or building maintenance preferred.
• Proficiency with basic hand tools and electrical maintenance equipment.
• Able to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Facility cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, dusting, disinfecting restrooms.
• Minor repairs: troubleshoot and fix minor equipment, replace light bulbs, assist painting/carpentry.
• Room setup & tear down: arrange chairs, tables, and tech for programs and events.
• Grounds upkeep: collect trash and clear snow/ice at entrances.
• Safety & security: follow safety procedures and report larger issues to Facilities Manager.
