Job summary

The McHenry Public Library District is seeking an on-site Building Maintenance & Custodian to support a safe, clean environment for staff and patrons. Salary ranges $19.09–$23.86 per hour, with benefits and a background check process.

This role includes evening/weekend shifts, vehicle operation, and routine building maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, custodial experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate cleaning equipment and basic

Qualifications

• Two years custodial and maintenance experience or equivalent.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans interior and exterior areas per procedures using approved supplies.
• Sets up and breaks down tables, chairs, and podiums for programs.
• Performs groundskeeping, snow/ice removal, and trash collection.
• Repairs and maintains building features (minor plumbing/electrical/wall painting).
• Monitors safety and report hazards; assists with emergencies.
